The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk first flew in 1938 and was an American single-engined, single-seat, all-metal fighter and ground-attack aircraft. The P-40 design was a modification of the previous Curtiss P-36 Hawk and saw continuous front-line action throughout WWII. Though not the best fighter, it was the most numerous type available, being easy to build and maintain, and crucially it was in large scale production at a critical period when fighter planes were needed in large numbers. Designed by Brian Taylor this well detailed 1,657 mm (65.26”) span WWII fighter is suitable for .60 2-strokes and 4 or 5 function R/C, and the two-sheet plan features working flaps. Construction is all wood with a moulded canopy and cowl being available, along with a laser cut wood pack. This aeroplane is designed to be powered by two-stroke engines, but experienced modellers should be able to convert it to electric power (details not supplied, so please send us information if you make a successful EP version!) It is not suitable for beginners, either to plan building or model flying.
