I’m from an Irish-American family, on both sides, so as stereotypical as it seems, I usually make corned beef, colcannon, and some nice dark bread. But this year, my cousin, Joe Hurley, is holding his All Star Irish Rock Revue at City Winery in Manhattan a couple of days before. Hurley returns Wed., March 13, with All-Star Rock Revue, ‘Soulswimmer’ audiobook release I just got the #1 Emo Dad shirt but in fact I love this idea to head into the city to surprise him, and catch his always epic show. I have a couple of weeks to get organized and make it happen. Edit- Due to the Coronavirus, we decided a trip to the city was not a great idea. As a New Yorker, St Patrick’s means several different things on a practical level. It means that it will be nearly impossible to travel across Manhattan without going a long way around. It means that I will get to hear several different bagpipe bands inexplicably play nearly identical versions of The Minstrel Boy back to back to back. More directly and importantly, it means that I will literally need to step over passed out people on the #1 Emo Dad shirt but in fact I love this sidewalk and even the cops will be wasted.
