The color can be changed by heat. While Aquamarine often contains no inclusions, it can have them, noticeable or not, composed of content such as mica, hematite, or saltwater. Aquamarine is a common gemstone. However, there is a rarer deep blue variant called maxixe. Dark-blue maxixe color can be produced in green, pink or yellow beryl by irradiating it with high-energy radiation. The name Aquamarine comes from aqua (Latin for “water”), and marine (Latin for “of the sea”). Aquamarine can be found in countries like Afghanistan, China, Kenya, Pakistan, Russia, Mozamique, the United States, Brazil, Nigeria, Madagascar, Zambia, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Malawi, India, Zimbabwe, Australia, Myanmar, and Namibia. The state of Minas Gerais is a major source for Aquamarine. Aquamarine can mostly be found in granite pegmatites. It can also be found in veins of metamorphic rocks that became mineralized by hydrothermal activity. CLEANSING AND CHARGING Be sure to cleanse your Aquamarine when received, and charge with your own energy and intentions. Use your feather fan to waft over it the smoke of purifying incense. Use sound vibrations from a singing bowl, bells, or tingsha chimes while quickly and carefully passing through the flame of a Blue, Light Blue or White candle. Place in a (preferably Selenite or Clear Quartz, just not any kind of metal) bowl on top of a bed of dead sea salt and leave soaking in the moonlight for at least four hours. Remove from the bowl, rinse for 30 seconds in (ideally natural, like a stream or in the rain) running water, then gently dry with a cloth (BE CAREFUL with stones that may easily scratch). Hold in your left hand (if wearing for receiving intentions) or right hand (if wearing for emitting intentions) and meditate your intentions and energy onto the stones for half an hour. Alternatively, cleanse by smudging then holding under running water (or leaving out in rainwater) for at least 30 seconds, dry, and gently place in a bed of sea salt on a windowsill after sunset for a few hours. Avoid exposure to harsh chemicals and cleaning products. Because your gemstones can absorb negative energy, avoid allowing others to touch or handle them and be sure to cleanse regularly.
