Description:  Lepidolite is a lilac-gray or rose-colored member of the mica group of minerals. It is the most lithium-bearing mineral and is a secondary source of this metal. It is the major source of the alkali metal rubidium. Because Lepidolite is a lithium-bearing mica, it is often wrongly assumed that Lithium is what causes the pink hues that are so characteristic of this mineral. Instead, it is trace amounts of manganese that cause the pink, purple, and red colors. Notable occurrences of Lepidolite include Brazil; Ural Mountains, Russia; hills of the Pala Indian Reservation, San Luis Rey River Valley, northern Sand Diego County, California, United States; Tanco Mine, Bernic Lake, Manitoba, Canada; and Madagascar. CLEANSING AND CHARGING Be sure to cleanse your Lepidolite when received, and charge with your own energy and intentions. Use your feather fan to waft over it the smoke of purifying incense. Use sound vibrations from a singing bowl, bells, or tingsha chimes while quickly and carefully passing through the flame of a light purple or pink candle. Place in a (preferably Selenite or Clear Quartz, just not any kind of metal) bowl on top of a bed of dead sea salt and leave soaking in the moonlight for at least four hours. Remove from the bowl, rinse for 30 seconds in (ideally natural, like a stream or in the rain) running water, then gently dry with a cloth (BE CAREFUL with stones that may easily scratch). Hold in your left hand (if wearing for receiving intentions) or right hand (if wearing for emitting intentions) and meditate your intentions and energy onto the stones for half an hour. Alternatively, cleanse by smudging then holding under running water (or leaving out in rainwater) for at least 30 seconds, dry, and gently place in a bed of sea salt on a windowsill after sunset for a few hours. Avoid exposure to harsh chemicals and cleaning products. Because your gemstones can absorb negative energy, avoid allowing others to touch or handle them and be sure to cleanse regularly. Recharge as needed by placing in the sunlight or moonlight for a few hours, or by burying in the earth for a day or two. Avoid exposure to harsh chemicals and cleaning products.
