Description:  Unakite was first discovered in the United States in the Unaka mountain range of western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee. However, it can also be found in New Jersey and on the beaches of Lake Superior, where it was originally dragged by glaciers, as well as washed down from the mountains into rivers in Virginia. It can also be found in Brazil, China, Sierra Leone, Australia, Indonesia, and South Africa. Unakite is not really a crystal, it is a pink and green metamorphic rock made up of multiple other stones like green epidote, pink orthoclase feldspar, clear or milky quartz, and other materials like magnetite, chromite, or zircon. It is formed when granite experiences hydrothermal action and is found in masses. Each stone has a unique pattern of moss-like to olive green colors with salmon pink and orange-red patches, white speckles, and occasional black veins. CLEANSING AND CHARGING Be sure to cleanse your Unakite when received, and charge with your own energy and intentions. Use your feather fan to waft over it the smoke of purifying incense. Use sound vibrations from a singing bowl, bells, or tingsha chimes while quickly and carefully passing through the flame of a purple or pink candle. Place in a (preferably Selenite or Clear Quartz, just not any kind of metal) bowl on top of a bed of dead sea salt and leave soaking in the moonlight for at least four hours. Remove from the bowl, rinse for 30 seconds in (ideally natural, like a stream or in the rain) running water, then gently dry with a cloth (BE CAREFUL with stones that may easily scratch). Hold in your left hand (if wearing for receiving intentions) or right hand (if wearing for emitting intentions) and meditate your intentions and energy onto the stones for half an hour. Alternatively, cleanse by smudging then holding under running water (or leaving out in rainwater) for at least 30 seconds, dry, and gently place in a bed of sea salt on a windowsill after sunset for a few hours. Avoid exposure to harsh chemicals and cleaning products. Because your gemstones can absorb negative energy, avoid allowing others to touch or handle them and be sure to cleanse regularly.
