A scrumptious antique 'cherry' Brooch from the Art Nouveau era, c1910! This sweet brooch is made of 9ct gold and the gold colour is a subtle rose hue with yellow hint. The brooch is styled in the wonderful Art Nouveau aesthetics. A lovely sinuous line forming two draped cherry like figures at the centre. Two juicy garnets rest in claw collet settings, one garnet exhibits a purplish rose colour and the other exhibits a brownish red. The two faceted round-cut natural garnets measure approximately 5.00mm and estimated total weight is 1.20 carats. The slender elegance of the brooch is lovely. A metal pin and c-loop to the reverse make up the rest of the brooch. There is hallmarks placed on the reverse and near the pin hinge. An 'anchor' along with the early Australian guarantee hallmarks ('9' and 'Sheaf'). The anchor hallmark was that of Melbourne jeweller Duggin, Shappere and Co who started trade in the late 19th century and was one the leading jewellery manufacturers in the early 20th century. An elegant Art Nouveau brooch! Sure to add a graceful touch to any shirt or jacket...
