Victorian 18ct Gold Old-cut Diamond Plaque Conversion Ring

A distinct diamond plaque ring from the late Victorian era, c1890! Originally a stick pin, this elegant piece has since been converted for present-day wear. The ring is crafted in 18k gold, predominantly yellow in colour, there is also an antique rose hint on the surface. This bold design incorporates a rectangular hollow plaque placed along the finger. The plaque has wirework embellishments along each side, with an interval at each corner, additionally there is cut-out corners to the plaque ... adding further detail to the ring. A sparkling old mine cut diamond (0.14carat!) dazzles from the centre of a hexagon shaped platform. The diamond is bead set and it features a lozenge-shaped grooved border, giving the illusion of a unique lozenge-shaped diamond in the centre! The plaque sits almost flush with the antique band either side which measures around 6.50mm wide. The antique band is a smooth polished design, it is likely to have had an engraved pattern on the surface originally as there is remnants of an engraved pattern slightly visible due to the high-polish. Nonetheless, both the stick-pin and band are around the same era (c1890-1900!) and meld together beautifully! The band is stamped '18c' beside a 'crown' symbol stamp - possibly early Australian origin. A stunning and unique conversion ring! Perfect for everyday wear, and would look fabulous worn with other antique jewellery!
