This includes male sexual energy and a relationship with Divine Masculine power, along with fertility and representing sustaining life. Sunstone crystals represent joy, happiness, good nature, optimism, and the bestowing of blessings. It is a stone of benevolent leadership. Description: Sunstone is a microcline or oligoclase feldspar, which when viewed from certain directions exhibits a spangled appearance. The optical effect in this gemstone is due to reflections from inclusions of red copper, hematite, or goethite, in the form of minute scales, which are hexagonal, rhombic, or irregular in shape, and are disposed parallel to the principal cleavage-plane. The optical effect is called schiller and the color of Oregon Sunstone is due to copper. The middle part of this crystal sparkles, and usually the color is darkest in the middle and becomes lighter toward the outer edges. Sunstone has been found in Southern Norway, Sweden, various United States localities and on some beaches along the mid-coast of South Australia. One of the best-known localities for Sunstone crystals was Tvedestrand, near Arendal, in south Norway, where masses of the Sunstone occur embedded in a vein of quartz running through gneiss. Other locations include near Lake Baikal in Siberia, and several locations in the United state like Middletown Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania; Plush, Oregon; and Statesville, North Carolina. The “orthoclase sunstone” variant has been found near Crown Point and at several other localities in New York, as also at Glen Riddle in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, and at Amelia Courthouse, Amelia County, Virginia. Sunstone is also found in Pleistocene basalt flows at Sunstone Knoll in Millard County, Utah. A variety known as “Oregon Sunstone” is found in Harney County, Oregon and in eastern Lake County north of Plush. CLEANSING AND CHARGING Be sure to cleanse your Sunstone when received, and charge with your own energy and intentions. Use your feather fan to waft over it the smoke of purifying incense. Use sound vibrations from a singing bowl, bells, or tingsha chimes while quickly and carefully passing through the flame of a Yellow, Orange, or Gold candle. Place in a (preferably Selenite or Clear Quartz, just not any kind of metal) bowl on top of a bed of dead sea salt and leave soaking in the moonlight for at least four hours. Remove from the bowl, rinse for 30 seconds in (ideally natural, like a stream or in the rain) running water, then gently dry with a cloth (BE CAREFUL with stones that may easily scratch). Hold in your left hand (if wearing for receiving intentions) or right hand (if wearing for emitting intentions) and meditate your intentions and energy onto the stones for half an hour. Alternatively, cleanse by smudging then holding under running water (or leaving out in rainwater) for at least 30 seconds, dry, and gently place in a bed of sea salt on a windowsill after sunset for a few hours. Avoid exposure to harsh chemicals and cleaning products. Because your gemstones can absorb negative energy, avoid allowing others to touch or handle them and be sure to cleanse regularly.
