KR Social Sip ‘n’ SUP

Join Us for a  SOCIAL SIP ‘N’ SUP session! Our famous Social SUP get-togethers are back! These events will be running On Saturday mornings from 8:00-09:30 am. We’ll aim to spice it up depending on what people are after. Some ideas we have are to offer the odd social SUP yoga session, to head into the South Pacific Gym Jacuzzi on the colder days and either way to finish (unless we paddle to a cafe along the way) with a coffee, tea, chai, or maybe a sneaky beer or wine after the sunset paddles. WHAT TO EXPECT Time: 8:00am to 9:30 am Where: Kite Republic Shop, next to Republica Courtyard (unless specified otherwise) SOCIAL SIP ‘N’ SUP Regular Sessions We start at St.Kilda Beach in front of the St. Kilda Sea Baths. Anyone is welcome; you do not have to have prior experience to join this relaxed social paddle. We will explain the basic techniques of paddleboarding before we head out to those that required this and effectively it would be just like hiring a SUP any day of the year… just you get to have an awesome social time out there with other like minded people and there’ll be a leader out there to make sure you don’t miss the great bits of the paddle. Prepare yourself for a smooth ride in the bay, we will mix it up between exploring the small boats in the harbour and make our way back along the pier, or heading for fun paddle to different coffee options.. If we’re lucky we might get to see the famous St Kilda Fairy Penguins! There will always be a fleet of Red Paddle inflatable boards you can demo, as well as a range of others if you’d like to discuss this prior so we can accommodate as much as possible. We would suggest bringing your phone or a few dollars in a waterproof pouch (we have them if you need) as we’ll always aim to have a Social SIP along the way or at the end. This is a special offer at 19$ / person if you need to hire SUP gear, or free if you bring your own. SOCIAL SIP ‘N’ SUP Jacuzzi Special As per the Regular Session above, the Jacuzzi Special will add that little bit of spice (& thawing out in the winter months) and will finish with a Jacuzzi at the awesome South Pacific Health Club which is right on the sand next to Kite Republic and offers everything from Jacuzzi to Steam Room to full swimming and gym facilities… oh… and a hot shower to finish up! The extra cost of the Jacuzzi Special session is a reduced price $9 entry to the facilities. Don’t miss out, book your spot Now!   Common questions Will I fall in? – Maybe, maybe not, that is entirely up to you and your balance! Do I have to be able to swim? – Yes, we expect you to be able to swim, you are responsible for your own safety when you rent a board. What should I bring? – Bring your bathing suit or your wetty if it’s chilly! We provide wetsuits free of charge if you don’t have your own! We appreciate if you bring your own life vest for young kids who cannot swim! Where do I put my valuables? – We can store your bag for you in our shop. Where can I shower afterwards? – There are beach showers close by where you can rinse off the salty water. We also have the St Kilda Seabaths right next door where you can pay your way in for a hot shower and a locker. On the Jacuzzi Special sessions you’ll already be in there for these.   WE ALSO RUN CUSTOMISED PADDLE SESSIONS, CONTACT US FOR MORE DETAILS: Corporate SUP session Supping is a great way to get to know each other better and get out of the office! We start with a short introduction in the sand, set all paddlers on the right path and go through paddling techniques. We will start with getting everyone comfortable on the boards, and finding their balance and strength. Once everyone has gained confidence we’ll explore the marina and test our skills before kicking off some challenges and team-building exercises. We are happy to customise your session to your needs and wishes.   SUP with school Why not activate the kids and take them to the beach for some playful SUP’ing? We will go through the basics of paddleboarding on land and then hit the water for some skill-building and team challenges! Have you ever tried playing tag on water or racing with your classmates, it’s a great way to interact and get a great workout without even thinking about it!   Relaxed paddle session We start with a short introduction in the sand, set all paddlers on the right path and talk about paddling techniques. Once we all hit the water the fun really begins! Your instructor will guide you to find your balance, get to a comfortable cruising speed and practice different turning skills (before we get to the boats). Together we’ll explore our limits and make our way under the pier into a flatwater area with anchored sailboats and the St Kilda penguins. With some luck, you might get to see them climb their way up on the pier around sunset. We finish the session with a cool down on the beach and a nice group picture to remember the day.
