Optcore mode conditioning patch cables are used when a gigabit 1000Base-LX/LH or 10GBase-LRM (1310nm) router or switch has been installed into an existing multimode fiber cable system. The mode-conditioning patch cords are designed to reduce differential mode delay (DMD) effects that can occur when a single-mode signal is launched into a multimode fiber. The mode-conditioning patch cords consist of a single-mode fiber that has been fusion spliced to multimode fiber (orange jacket) in an offset manner. The mode-conditioning patch cable helps eliminate the multiple signals that cause signal errors. These mode-conditioning patch cord cables utilize a UPC (Ultra Physical Contact) polish and PVC or LSZH jacket. Please be sure to connect the yellow leg (single-mode) of the cable to the transmit side, and the orange leg (multimode) to the receive side of the equipment. It is imperative that this configuration be maintained on both ends. The mode conditioning cord eliminates the multiple signals.
