Benzoin is calming, soothing, warm, and restoring. It is often used as a base for incenses, and can be used as a substitute for Storax. On the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, benzoin is the perfume of Netzach. Thai or Siam benzoin has a wonderful vanilla scent when raw and a very sweet, almost rose-like scent when burned. Our Benzoin is a rich amber-colored translucent resin. Gum benzoin is a major component of the type of church incense used in Catholic ceremonies and some other Orthodox Christian societies.
